I've been grating these whole nutmegs into my eggnog and fruit pies lately, and the difference from pre-ground is night and day. The aroma is so much more vibrant, and a little goes a long way in puddings.

I bought these to try in my eggnog this winter, and the whole nutmeg grates beautifully with a fine rasp. It has that sweet, mild spiciness I was hoping for—so much better than the pre-ground stuff.

The whole nutmegs arrived with that sweet, mild aroma I hoped for—not as sharp as mace, which is perfect for my eggnog and fruit pies. I've already grated it into a batch of sausage meat and the flavor is noticeably fresher than the pre-ground stuff I used to buy.
