These star anise pods are much more fragrant than the dusty jar I bought at the grocery store, and just two pods gave my broth that deep, licorice warmth. The .1 lb bag was the perfect size to try without committing to a huge container.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well the star shape held up during baking—it kept its form beautifully in a batch of cookies. The aroma is fragrant and slightly sweet, adding a nice subtle licorice note to the dish.

The .1 lb portion is just the right size for trying it out without committing to a huge jar. Each star is so beautifully intact and aromatic that my whole spice drawer smells incredible just having it sealed in the bag.
